Description:
To determine the needs and interests of students and present options for development both outside of school and within the school program to maximize the likelihood that students will achieve long-term goals and reach their maximum potential.
Requirements:
Uses the majority of time providing direct services such as social, emotional, and academic guidance, individual student planning, and preventive and responsive services;
Effectively and appropriately, assess and address the needs, characteristics, and interactions of students, families, and community; make necessary referrals for extended services for students and families.
Use knowledge and understanding of the reciprocal influences of home, school, and community to intervene for student success via such practices as assessment, crisis intervention, home visits, conflict resolution, individual and group counseling, and student mediation
Ensure the implementation of the SEL curriculum at assigned schools.
Consult and collaborate with stakeholders on behalf of students and their families;
Collaborate with local businesses/organizations to find SEL learning opportunities for students;
Provide appropriate follow-up to ensure that students’ needs are being met;
Act as a point of contact for outside organizations and businesses working with students and their families at assigned schools;
Work as a team member with teachers and school staff.
