THE POSITION

If you have a passion for leading inmate workers in food service operations, the Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mercer is looking for a Corrections Food Service Instructor to join our team of instructors.

Apply now and make a difference in their lives through food! DESCRIPTION OF WORK As the lead worker in this role, you will be responsible for assigning, participating in, and reviewing routine and specialized tasks carried out by inmates in pre-preparation, production, service, and baking.
Additionally, you will enforce custody and security regulations to maintain control over inmates and inspect food service areas, equipment, and food for compliance with safety and sanitation standards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 40 hours per week This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
Work hours are 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM, or 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with 30-minute lunch.
A schedule and pass days will be determined during the hiring process.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions.
