Historic Hinged, 3-Panel Dressing Mirror; Outstanding condition! Item consists of three, separate rectangular pieces -- one larger mirror in the center and two smaller-sized mirrors on each side.
All three mirrors have beautiful arched tops.
The two smaller-sized mirrors are attached to the larger mirror with metal hinges, thus allowing the side mirrors to be fully extended out to display the 3-panel set.
The two smaller-sized mirrors can also be swung toward the center mirror at any desired angle, or totally closed against the larger mirror.
The larger, center mirror has four (4) metal brackets attached for securing the unit to the wall.
Overall dimensions with both side mirrors fully extended are 49 ½” wide by 42" high by 1" deep.
Dimensions of the large, center mirror are 42” high by 20 ¼” wide by 1” deep.
Dimensions of each side mirror are 21 ½” high by 14 ½” wide by 1” deep.
Total weight is 37.
8 pounds - a very solid piece of furniture.
The larger mirror has a 1 ½” wide hardwood frame and the two smaller mirrors have 1” wide hardwood frames.
The corners of each frame are joined using historic wooden splines.
The two smaller mirrors are backed with 1/8” thick solid hardwood panels.
The hardwood appears to be maple.
There are no manufacturer notations on the mirror so I don’t know exactly how old it is.
It appears to be custom made by a talented furniture craftsman.
I am thinking that this item is an antique, however since it would need to be 100 years old to classify as an antique, it’s possible that it is not an antique.
Based on the origin of this mirror in an old estate house, I think it was probably made in the early part of the 20th century.
The condition of the unit is outstanding with no loose members.
I took the pictures on my back deck, so I’m sorry that the images in the mirrors are reflecting my trellis and side of the house.
Hopefully the reflection doesn’t confuse anything.
