, a leading hardwood quality company with locations in 10 countries around the globe, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer for our Darlington, Pennsylvania facility.

Location: Darlington, PA 16115 Travel required to company locations within US.
Overnight stays estimated to be 30% to 50% of time.
Occasional International travel may be required Salary range $75k to $100k dependent on experience Reports to VP Engineering, Darlington, PA Personal Qualifications: * Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering preferred (Civil, Electrical or Industrial to be considered dependent on relevant experience) * Must have 5 years of experience in relevant industrial machinery design.
Wood products industry related experience with knowledge of veneer, lumber, wood composites, engineered wood products, flooring or laminated wood products is a plus * Must be able to demonstrate project management experience on complex projects * Strong written and oral communication abilities and excellent interpersonal skills * Ability to work independently or to participate on and lead cross functional teams * Strong analytical skills to access situations and drive decision making.
* Solid skills in manufacturing process and a general business understanding.
* Knowledge of project management principles including proficient use of tools and software such as MS Project or other systems.
* Experience working in a global cross-functional project environment.
* Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language * Exceptionally self-motivated and directed.
Energetic, forward-thinking and creative with high ethical standards * Keen attention to detail * Versed in the use of AutoCAD 2D and 3D Inventor and Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Power Point Responsibilities: * Responsible for providing engineering tasks associated with wood products equipment design, planning and installation including * Conceptual design of equipment and process development reports * Process engineering calculations * Basis of design process scope documents * Equipment layouts * Process equipment specifications, data sheets, and bid tabulations * Project status reports * Interface with vendors to define project scope, resolve technical issues, and assist with preparation of procurement documents.
* Preparation of engineering project proposals.
* Check vendor drawings to insure design accuracy and compliance with specifications * Develop, evaluate, implement and monitor processes and operating systems for the manufacture of wood products * Assess the availability of materials and their safety and environmental impact on a facility * Responsible for new product concept, product development, pilot plant tests on new products, cost reduction formulation and reverse engineering.
* Support the conversion of small-scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations * Monitor and improve the efficiency, output and safety of manufacturing processes through observations and measurements as well as by collecting and interpreting data from other technical and operating personnel (continue process optimization).
* Manage and enhance a technology development process that facilitates the technical growth of the organization with new and novel enabling technologies.
* Stay current of the latest developments, materials, or processes which can be used to improve production of products and liaise with manufacturing sites.
* Interact with Sales, Marketing, Procurement, Quality, and Operations as well as outside vendors.
* Initiates and maintain overall project documentation.
* Works independently with minimal supervision to establish priorities, activities, and specific direction given to the project team toward meeting project completion dates.
* Provide support and guidance for non-routine problems requiring technical knowledge.
* Provide support for Environmental, Safety and Quality Managers * Plan and manage all aspects of engineering project work for wood products equipment from creating equipment scope through detail engineering tasks and creating bill of materials to planning, installation, start-up and evaluation of equipment.
* Work with operational managers to develop concepts for plant upgrades and have familiarity with return on investment calculations * Design of production machinery including new machines, as well as alterations and renovations to existing machines.
* Project Management, directing the installation and startup of new production machinery.
* Work closely with vendors and outside contractors that supply equipment, parts and /or labor on projects.
* Maintain a department schedule and track and maintain project costs.
* Estimate costs for future and /or potential projects for budget and feasibility purposes including return on investment potential.
* Offer support to the maintenance and engineering departments at the Danzer Group facilities on technical issues pertaining to machinery, infrastructure, energy and cost saving concerns, environmental, and safety related issues.
* Support the Production and Quality Assurance Departments with data collection, interpretation, and responses to product production and quality related concerns.
* Familiarity with the principles and practices of lean manufacturing is considered beneficial.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $75,000.
00 - $100,000.
