The primary purpose of the Research Laboratory Technician is product analysis and data collection.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform daily quality control testing, conduct analysis of aggregate samples, perform lab production and testing of asphalt emulsions and cut-backs, and evaluate asphalt mix design
Perform routine testing of asphalt and make recommendations on adjustments to material properties to ensure compliance with job, agency, or state specifications
Perform data collection and reporting to meet job and agency specifications
Maintain an organized and clean lab
Follow all safety policies and practices
All other duties as assigned
Work Environment
This position requires most of its responsibilities be performed in an asphalt emulsions manufacturing plant laboratory.
Work conditions may involve exposure to hot materials, chemicals, fumes, dust, odors, gases, and other substances used in a construction environment.

Skills and Education - Required
Some education in a technical field (ex.
Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, etc.
)
Solid math and reading skills, and the ability to understand technical manuals
Well established organizational skills with strong attention to detail, record-keeping skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
Customer focused attitude
Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds as needed
Ability to perform work which requires frequent and regular movement of wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Ability to perform work which requires frequent and regular walking and standing
Ability to see, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity
Ability to operate standard office equipment including a computer, copier, fax, phone and other similar office equipment
Ability to operate laboratory specific technology and equipment
