JOB SCOPE/ SUMMARY:
The Quality Manager is the leader of the business' quality program in accordance with company and customer requirements.
This includes providing oversite to the quality team, defining quality requirements, preparing documentation (including control plans, PFMEA's, PPAP's, and corrective action), and monitoring production quality performance to find opportunities for improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain the ISO9001 certified Quality Management System (QMS) at three manufacturing facilities.
Provide leadership to quality inspectors, technicians, and engineers across multiple facilities.
Use established relationships to resolve customers' & suppliers' quality related inquiries.
Closely supervise internal and external quality issues and develop effective root cause analyses and corrective actions to resolve any issues.
Collaborate with production to identify continuous improvement opportunities in quality, cost, and safety, and establish well-defined goals to accomplish these improvements.
Provide technical direction to the management team regarding quality control and assurance strategies.
Play a lead role in the qualification of Mercury’s new electron beam.
This includes establishing and implementing new process qualification plans and corresponding new process control plans.
Become an authority in electron beam dosimetry and dose mapping, in support of establishing a robust QMS for irradiation process control.
Identify and apply appropriate various tools, such as, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, & MSA.
Serve as the voice of quality on development teams.
Develop and communicate effective quality plans for new product development and process engineering activities.
Demonstrate a level of leadership capability recognized throughout the organization.
Lead all aspects of implementation and maintenance of current and future 3rd party quality certifications (ISO 9001/13485/14001, IATF 16949, etc.
)
Develop and conduct training pertaining to quality systems, quality practices, and technical standards developments.
Act as the host for 3rd party audits (i.
e.
UL, CSA, IAPMO, NSF, ISO, etc.
)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of a four-year technical degree.
Experience in leading others
7 years previous experience in a similar Quality role in a manufacturing environment.
Strong technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, and/or material systems.
Detailed understanding of quality process and procedures, to include experience with Lean Manufacturing, ISO, SPC, and computer-based analytical/reporting tools is required.
Digital literacy in ERP Production Systems and Microsoft Office suite
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Able to interpret mechanical drawings.
Proven understanding and related practice with the PPAP qualification process.
Knowledge of Quality and problem-solving tools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
ASQ CQE or CMQ/OE
Six Sigma or Lean Certification.
ISO 9001 Auditor Certification
Experience working in Extruded Plastics and/or Injection Molding highly preferred.
Familiarity with GD&T and manufacturing systems such as engineering notices, material requirements planning (MRP), and inventory management systems is desired
