Buyer
Position Title: Buyer
Reports To: Procurement Manager
Position Summary:
Hunt Valve Company has been manufacturing shipboard valves for naval customers for decades.
The company, now part of Fairbanks Morse Defense, is rapidly growing and in need of a buyer for the purchasing department.
This position would directly support the purchasing team in day-to-day activities to ensure work progresses on schedule and with high quality.
Hunt offers a unique working environment that allows a hands-on individual to develop and grow as the company expands its footprint and maintains high performance as a trusted defense contractor.
Essential Job Functions:
• Issuing RFQs and purchase orders timely to support production
• Managing supplier due dates and expediting crucial orders
• Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers
• Work with planning and operations to support manufacturing schedules
• Assist with payables and invoicing questions/issues
• Strong problem-solving skills
Skills Desired:
• Minimum of 3 years in manufacturing/supply chain environment required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or related business from an accredited institution
• Excellent analytical and financial skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Works well in a fast-paced environment with minimal day-to-day supervision
• Working experience in an ERP system, preferably Infor Visual
• Highly skilled in Excel, Word, Power-Point
• Be able to comprehend blueprints and drawings
• Negotiate terms and pricing with suppliers
