*Assistant Plant Manager Job Description:*
The Assistant Plant Manager is a hands-on position responsible for assisting the Plant Manager and Engineering Manager in all aspects of production to ensure high quality steel fabrications are produced in an efficient and timely manner.
Duties will also include but are not limited to working directly with shop personnel to ensure projects run efficiently through the fabrication shop, coordinating with engineering for material requirements and schedule, assessing capital improvement projects, managing installation of new equipment, and maintenance of existing equipment.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*
* Manage production aspects of assigned projects in accordance with contract requirements
* Review layout and detail drawings to determine best means/methods for fabrication
* Review materials required for fabrication
* Tracking status of materials through the fabrication shop
* Coordinates with Plant Manager and Engineering Manager
* Assist in the development of schedules for both internal and external stakeholders
* Troubleshoot shop equipment if problems arise
* Requisition various materials for purchasing
* Review equipment and vendors for capital improvement projects
* Develop an equipment maintenance schedule and assist shop personnel in maintenance of equipment
* Develop process improvements to aide in shop efficiency
*Functional Requirements*
* Assist in day to day scheduling of production work
* Assist production personnel in a hands on environment with efficient setup of their next project
* Setup equipment / fixtures for production personnel
* Quality checks for first off parts
* Coordination of loading / unloading materials and trucks
* Installation of new equipment
* Maintenance of equipment
*Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:*
* Willingness to be a hands-on leader
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word)
* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings as well as material specifications
* Detail-oriented with high attention to accuracy
* Strong organizational skills
* Ability to manage time to achieve tasks in the time budgeted
*Education and Experience:*
* 2/4 Year Associates Degree OR Bachelors Degree either in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
* 3 - 5 Years Experience in Project Engineering, specifically in a production / plant environment
* Project Management Skills are a plus
* Prior experience with Fabricated Steel Products
* AWS D1.

*Physical Demands:*
* This is a hands on position and will require approximately 50% of your time will be spent on your feet in the shop

* Protective eye wear when entering the Shop
* Steel toed footwear when entering the Shop
