SUMMARY: The Construction Foreman for DON Services will construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, wallboard, and other materials, using hand tools and power tools.
This person will work with, instruct, and supervise staff on a job site.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Follow established safety rules and regulations and always maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Take direction from the Construction Manager and make recommendations to determine on site construction activities.
Study and interpret specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layouts and determine dimensions and materials required.
Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
Install structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using hand or power tools.
Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings and homes, using woodworking machines, carpenter’s hand tools, or power tools.
Inspect ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures.
Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair and replace, using hand and power tools.
Finish surfaces of woodwork or wallboard in houses or buildings, using paint, hand tools, or paneling.
Erect or dismantle scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other structures.
Provide clear instruction at the start of a workday and continuously with assigned tasks to staff assigned to site.
Provide communication to Construction Manager as to attendance, job site injury, work performance, or any other personnel issue.
Collect and submit paperwork as required for FHL and General time tracking.
Contact Construction Manager when assignment is completed.
Ensure job site remains clean and all tools remain secured.
Other duties as assigned.
Employee will request direction for non-routine tasks but is expected to exercise judgment and authority consistent with procedures or routine behavior.

Ability to write, enter, transcribe, record, store, and maintain information in written or electronic form.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of consumers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to solve problems with knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and their applications.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other similar structures.
Understanding of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
