Summary
The Field Service Engineer provides technical support for engineered packages in the field.
This role is responsible for generating field oriented procedures, nonconformance reports and field completion reports.
This position requires working closely with design project teams, production, quality control (QC), vendors, customers, customer contractors, and Dearing subcontractors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Support unit in field during the installation/commissioning/warranty period.
Collaborating with energy service technicians to troubleshoot issues at location.
Providing technical support for energy service, customers and contractors throughout life of package.
Communicate with customer to troubleshoot and resolve field issues requiring customer/contractor and engineering face to face interaction.
Report non-conformances and field completion status.
Verify contractors are following Dearing’s standards during assembly and pre-commissioning.
Provide Dearing representation at location construction meetings when necessary.
Report customer and contractor comments back to engineering, QC, energy service and production.
Perform unit pre-commissioning checks and final commissioning of units when needed.
Assist in design, quoting, and scheduling of billable projects outside of commissioning in conjunction with production and energy services.
Recommend process/design improvements to engineering and management.
Write job plans and scope of work for field related work.
Review commissioning and warranty paperwork prior to submittal.
Create and maintain detailed unit/project documentation.
Assist in creation and implementation of field related procedures (installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning) in concurrence with engineering and energy service.
Participate in unit test runs in shop, customer shop inspections, kick-off meetings, project wrap up meetings and conference calls when required.
Establish, develop and maintain customer/contractor/vendor relationships.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering; three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3-5 years experience of field work in the natural gas, petroleum, or construction industry is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write technical reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, vendors, employees, and trade associations.
Read computer monitor and written documentation.
Periodic lifting requirements in excess of 50 lbs.
Must have ability to stand and walk on uneven and varied terrain, climb ladders and stairs; and stoop, squat, kneel, crouch and crawl depending on the task requirements.
Must have ability to sit for long periods of time while driving and be exposed to a variety of weather conditions and have a clean driving record.
