This role will have a have a high level of responsibility in shaping the application and use of Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) additive technology for advanced propulsion applications.
As part of the small, high-performing team the Additive Manufacturing Engineer will support additive design as well any task necessary to keep machines running and parts moving.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and ready to tackle challenges head on.
Direct experience with LPBF or another additive process is preferred but not required.
More important is the desire for continuous technical learning and excitement about propulsion design and manufacturing.
Additive Manufacturing is critical to Ursa Major's products and this role will be critical in supporting rapid product development and scaling.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for LPBF component manufacturing at Ursa Major
LPBF build file setup and programming
Support structure design and optimization
Responsible for clean sheet parameter development for high-quality and economical components
Troubleshoot build failures and iterate with designers to improve part manufacturability and consistency
Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to enable advanced designs for liquid and solid propulsion engines
Provide DFAM support to designers
Work alongside the additive technicians to develop, author, and maintain standard operating procedures for machine operation and related processes
Desire to work flexible hours as needed to support high machine utilization
Desired Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Materials, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering
Proficiency in any CAD software
2+ years' experience in LPBF production and/or development environment
LPBF parameter development
Additive manufacturing in the aerospace and/or defense industry
Preparing build files and operating LPBF machines
Knowledge on additive materials testing and qualification
Writing procedures and specifications
Familiarity with Aerospace industry specifications
