The Maintenance Technician will report directly to the Maintenance Manager, and in some cases to the Production Manager of the facility.
The Maintenance Technician responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
* Responsible for providing support for all plant machinery.
Must have the ability to work on their own and not have to be instructed on a daily bases and willing to provide assistance to peers; motivated to work alone as well as in a group setting.
* The Maintenance Technician will perform daily assignments requiring mechanical and electrical skills in a timely manner.
Activities require working alone or with other maintenance mechanics assigned to task.
* Maintenance Technicians are expected to follow safety protocols strictly.
There are additional safety protocols that must be observed when working in high-voltage (up to 600 volts) areas as these present a potentially deadly environment.
* Perform preventive maintenance as directed through the completion of periodic inspections of electrical systems and production equipment in an effort to identify sources of possible defects in order to prevent unexpected breakdowns; recommend strategies to replace or fix electrical problems if identified; and generally make sure that all electrical systems of the building they are assigned to work are performing as required and may include the maintenance of air conditioning and lighting systems; they may reference blueprints and/or wiring diagrams in planning their preventive maintenance work.
* Act expeditiously when electrical system and equipment breakdown occur.
This may include tracking down electrical short circuits or identifying problems with PLCs or other electrical components.
They must be able to safely perform different testing procedures to determine precise origin of electrical problems, at times when circuits are live, and do repairs
* The Maintenance Technician will evaluate and communicate to management about the extent of damage and make recommendations regarding the continuation of operations and how to repair the damaged equipment as well as give an estimate of the duration of shutdown if operations have stopped.
* May be required to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds), bend electrical conduits and use equipment to work on hard-to-reach and/or confined spaces, including the use and operation of forklifts and articulating lift when working at ceiling height.
* Maintaining records of all electrical inventories and placing orders for spare parts and equipment.
* Keeping a log of electrical repair and maintenance work
*Maintenance Technician Job Requirements:*
* Broad knowledge of industrial electrical systems used in commercial and industrial buildings.
* Able to demonstrate the ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and systems involving electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, and hydraulic repair or replacement.
* Knowledge of PLC Logic, and ability to read schematics and blueprints.
* Understand electrical panel and drive components.
* Understand gear trains, shafts/journals, pulleys, and bearings.
* Work with outside repair technicians to assure downtime on equipment is minimal.
* Must have forklift & aerial lift experience
* Ability to diagnose and repair all converting equipment
* Read and understand electrical schematics, hydraulic, pneumatic, installation and assembly
* Must be able to trouble shoot blown fuses and tripped breakers
* Must have an understanding of AC/DC drivers and motors
* Must be able to diagnose and repair forklift equipment
* Must have the ability to weld, gas and electrical and use an acetylene torch
* Must have working knowledge of plumbing water, steam, electrical conduit and waste water
* Must have working knowledge of pumps gear vane diaphragm and vacuum
*Maintenance Technician Physical Requirements:*
Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing, pushing, pulling, grasping, fine manipulation and visual acuity for color perception.
Ability to communicate with machine operators, supervisors, and managers, verbally and in writing.
Ability to lift 30 to 50 lbs.
